Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs
About Us

The Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs (AASP) is a non-profit,

501(c)(3) organization created to support Arlington County’s senior centers in terms of program enhancement, public understanding and participation. The Alliance supplements County endeavors; it neither duplicates them nor substitutes its resources for theirs.   AASP works closely with Arlington County’s Office of Senior Adult Programs (OSAP).

The Office of Senior Adult Programs (OSAP) coordinates programs and activities at six senior centers, provides classes and programs in sports and fitness, and runs the Senior Adult Travel office.  The wide variety of activities and classes available (with a small annual membership fee) to everyone 55+ years are published bi-monthly in Arlington County 55+ Guide.  Many of the programs are free!

If you want to find out more about AASP, to volunteer (we’d love to have you join us), or to help with a cash contribution, please give us a call at 703-994-2571, or e-mail us at Board@arlington-alliance.org

AASP’s goal is to support the County’s senior centers in meeting the needs and interests of Arlington’s senior population.  AASP seeks to:

  • Increase participation in senior centers by adding programs and making existing programs more attractive;
  • Provide structures that promote community engagement;
  • Improve Arlington’s senior center facilities/physical plants; and
  • Reach out to the underserved populations.

AASP began operations in July 2007.  It received two grants totaling $15,000 from the Arlington Community Foundation and almost $2,000 in individual contributions to support its programs and services.  As a non-profit organization, AASP will fund its programs by obtaining grants, conducting fundraising activities, and accepting individual contributions.
